• July 18, 2012 - Venture Scout Day
  A special presentation on the diving facility in the Florida Keys called Sea Base will be presented at the July 18 LIDA meeting. As usual, the meeting will begin at 7pm at its Blue Point location. Sea Base is the largest diving facility in the Florida Keys and is owned by the Boy Scouts of America. Several Long Island Venture Troops made up of boys and girls will be attending Sea Base to dive within the next year. This presentation will be given by two former Sea Base diving instructors who will introduce the audience to the adventures of the diving and sailing activities available at this location. All scouts and divers are invited to attend.
• July 21, 2012 - Scuba Fair
  The Neutral Buoyancy Dive Club will be hosting their first annual Scuba Fair. The purpose of this Fair is to promote diving and education about our Long Island waters. So often we forget the treasures that await us in our own backyards. There will be a pool open to those who would like to try scuba as well as representatives from different organizations to help us learn about our diving history. The Mark V dive suit will be present as well as a touch tank and a scuba super hero for the kids!!! The fair will be held in the Britania Marina at 81 Fort Salonga Road, Northport, NY 11768 from 10am till 3pm. Map & Directions
  
• July 22 - Captain Ken and Jean Marie Memorial Dive
  Once again it's time for the Captain Ken and Jean Marie Memorial Dive at the Ponquogue Bridge. High tide is at 11:17 AM. Free parking for those without permits. Following the dive will be a Pot Luck BBQ and raffle in the parking lot of the Ponquogue Bridge Marine Park. Please contact Freddie Hughes (will be there at 9:00 AM) for more information.
  
  Grand Door Prize worth OVER $1000 (AQUA LUNG Legend Supreme Regulator with ABS Octopus and a VYPER computer with additional wrist mount in SUUNTU 2 gauge console.) This set up is shop tested and ready to go diving. All warrantees, software etc. will be in the boxes.
  
  Chinese Auction Prizes: Zuma BCD and smaller prizes include Alu Solo Light, Arrival Mesh Duffle Bags, and numerous other donated items. Chinese raffle tickets will cost $25 for a pack of 25 tickets plus 1 door prize ticket (one number for all 26 tickets so that will make it easier for everyone, but must buy the whole pack.) Note, Grand Door Prize tickets will not be sold separately.

• August 4 - 2012 AquaWoman Dive
  The 2012 AquaWoman dive will be held Saturday, August 4th aboard the Jeanne II - Capt. Bill Reddan. Boarding is at 5:00 AM at Pier 5, Sheepshead Bay, NY and leaves the dock at 5:30 AM Sharp. Remember, this exciting event is for the women of diving to have a wonderful day on the high seas! Directions | Map
  
• August 17, 2012 - Marine Bio Dive
  The Marine Bio Dive is being hosted by Marianne McNamara and will be held at Ponquogue Bridge. The dive will begin at 8:40pm, so please get there early. The purpose of this dive is to educate divers on the different marine life in our waters. This is a diver participation event! All divers are welcome to catch, and then release, marine life to be identified by Marianne and her experienced colleagues. This should be a real exciting and educational experience for everyone. • October 20 - Protecting our Aquatic Realm
  Join LIDA for the Protecting our Aquatic Realm Day sponsored by Beneath the Sea. There will be scuba diving, pumpkin painting, beach cleanup, live music and of course lights snacks. It will be held at 10am at Kaiser Park, Coney Island. Map & Directions
  
• January 11, 2013 - LIDA Film Festival
  Speaking and making a presentation will be world renown author, lecturer, photographer, and deep sea wreck diver Gary Gentile. Also, Steve and Maureen Langavin will speak and present a film about "Lost at Sea Texas Tower Disaster." Representatives of Freediving and Spearfishing will be presenting an exciting film on the spearfishing off the shores of Long Island. This will be a very exciting and educational evening for all divers. More...
